Without approval of EIA of career Baja 1000

. After nine days of the Baja 1000 2018 off-road race, it still does not have the authorization of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA), which is "suspended due to the quality of the information delivered," Alfonso Blanca Camarena reported.

The delegate in Baja California of the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), added that the fine applied to the organizers of the previous edition of the Baja 500 has not been resolved either.

"There is a request from the company Score to the Federal Attorney's Office for Environmental Protection so that half a million pesos of the fine is paid in fifty percent in cash and the other part in reparation actions for the environmental damage generated," said Blancafort Camarena.

The acceptance or rejection of this proposal will correspond to the national holder of Profepa, explained the delegate of Semarnat.

 Concerns surfaced
Regarding the study of environmental impact of the Baja 1000 2018, the federal official indicated that after the public consultation that was carried out on that race, several groups and local citizens came up with a series of concerns, for which reason the Score company sufficiently explain those doubts.

Once these data are delivered, federal officials will check that the environmental regulations are complied with punctually, said Blancafort Camarena.

He acknowledged the economic and touristic importance of off-road careers for Ensenada and Baja California but reiterated that if another competition were to be held again without complying with environmental regulations, there would be a recurrence and the sanctions would be much more severe in administrative matters and even they could even be criminal in nature.
